Box from the Market was born in the summer of 2018.
The evening fell on the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem.
In the twilight, between light and darkness,
As the sun melted onto the glass-covered stalls,
Traders were shouting their final calls.
In that moment, when I was on my way home from a tour that ended,
A “box from the market’ was born
These boxes are at the heart of the world,
Containing everything that is tasty and fresh and local in Jerusalem.
The rustic, wooden box is built by Israeli carpenters,
and inside, there’s a whole culinary world,
bringing back forgotten childhood memories,
smells of home, and true tastes of love.
The box is 100% Jerusalemite (in character),
inspiring hearts and spirits all over the world.
Everyone who receives it slowly opens up the products
and feels the Mahane Yehuda market’s presence throughout.
We put the beauty, flavors and aromas in each box, and all the market people:
Uzi-Eli and his healing juices, cheeses from the Basher Family Fromagerie,
Itzik and his rugelach, Ezra’s vine leaves, Zion’s bagels, the Kadosh cakes,
Cohen’s pickled fish, and so much more.
